Bay Head 2008
July 30, 2008
The beach pictures are from our week at Bay Head New Jersey. My parents spend about 3 weeks there. Dad preaches at a small church there that is only open Memorial Day to Labor Day. There is a nice big house, the manse, next to the church so room for all to stay. Its a block to the ocean. It was a very relaxing trip. After the first day we got into a nice routine of early morning walks, veg at the house, late morning beach time with Ainsley, back for lunch, afternoon nap for Ainsley then back to the beach until dinner. Mom was gracious to stay with her at times so we could have some quiet time on the beach too. The water was very rough as Hurricane Bertha was moving up the coast. But the weather was sun and warm all week. An added bonus was having a working tv and being able to the watch morning coverage of the Tour de France. We were able to overlap our stay with Carrie and the kids. Ainsley enjoyed having her cousins and aunt around. All in all we had a great time.
Update on house.. and us
July 30, 2008
Things are really moving along. I’ll get some new photos up because they’ve gotten the windows in. It is a great view out back now. The schedule now is to start the drywall and sheet rock next week. They expect it to take one week plus, longer if humid. Which it has been! Then the hardwood floor goes in and then the kitchen cabinets! So far, knock on wood, no major roadblocks! We are very happy with the way things are going.
We are having a good summer in spite of the house being torn up. Ainsley enjoys going up to the pool. She discovered the small slide that launches her into the water. No fear. She and I were able to go up for an hour this morning before lunch. It has been very hot and humid. Feels like a real minnesota summer and after the long winter no one is complaining. Its been very dry which is good for us as we grill dinner most nights!
Baby Owens, the sequel, is doing well. It’s a kicking fool. Ainsley still doesn’t quite grasp the concept. She likes to slap mom’s big belly! We are very excited to see if she will have a little brother or sister. No, we are not finding out. I’m over the half way point but Nov 23rd still sounds so far away!
